I am a husband, writer, and teacher exploring what it means to cultivate mental silence.

The "dog days" of school...I saw this coming a few weeks ago...just as I was getting ready to start End of Grade test prep with my students...the "dog days" of school. The students are getting tired...so are "we" teachers. End of Grade testing is mere weeks away...no one wants to "do this"...for each of us sees through the illusion. The illusion we accept is that the review is good for both groups of students...helping those who have struggled and re-affirming to those who "got it" the first time around. In actuality the review, in my experience...frustrates further those who "don't get it" and bores those who "do"...even with my best efforts to make this prep engaging to both groups. I try my best to help both groups through this very difficult time of the school year. I have to say though...it weighs on me...not 1/2 as much as it must weigh on them.

I did it: First Impressions with the iPad Pro and Apple Pencil...
