Seventh Full Week of Summer Break...
Seventh Full Week of Summer Break...This week I re-listened to an amazing episode of a podcast called Song Exploder. This particular episode sees the host interviewing Rivers Cuomo, lead singer of the rock group Weezer about a song titled: Summer Elaine and Drunk Dori. It was fun re-listening to hear Cuomo’s writing process and see that he and I share a few things in common. He writes something called Morning Pages. He then “mines” his writing for golden lines and keeps a separate collection of them for future reference. This “mining” of golden lines is something I have gotten away from recently. I thought it would be interesting to bring this step back to my practice this week. While I am not a singer-song writer like Rivers I do like using my golden lines to create found poetry. Here is a found poem I created from this week’s golden lines. Enjoy! My own personal decompressing10 minute crying festDon’t like work creeping into thingsMy compassion could be better
