SCRATCHING an ITCH with Shortcuts and the Action Button on Apple Watch Ultra

The Action Button, on the Apple Watch Ultra is programmable, allowing the user to do all sorts of things; from turning on the flashlight, to turning on the Stopwatch, initiating different functions via the Compass app, even starting workouts. Up until yesterday, my Action Button was programmed to either start an indoor walk or start an outdoor walk. I've written about how I would love for Apple to come up with some way to create a menu, from the Action Button that could be scrolled, so that I could choose between the "Actions" I want to use. Having to go into the Watch app each time I want to change between an outdoor walk and indoor walk created an "itch" that needed to be "scratched."

I was aware that I could probably "scratch this itch" via a Shortcut but Shortcuts have not been working well through the Action Button so I dealt with the friction (aka "itch") of changing the Action through the Watch app. That is, until yesterday. Before going for a walk, I attempted to, and succeeded in creating a simple Shortcut that allows me to pick, from a menu, whether I want to start an outdoor walk or an indoor walk. The only "downside" to this Shortcut is that the workouts don't start immediately; the 3 second countdown comes first. It's a small price to pay for getting something I think Apple should have provided, out of the box!" If you are interested; here’s a picture of the Shortcut.

Itch scratched!!
