Moving Forward with Obsidian!

For the past 4 days I’ve been doing all of my writing in the Obsidian iOS and iPadOS app. I have had such a positive experience, on so many levels, that I’ve decided that Obsidian is where writing is going to start for me moving forward. One need only to look back at my previous blog posts to see why I’ve made this decision. The main reasons I’m making this move boil down to 3 things…

  1. The ability to utilize the app’s split view feature while in iPadOS split view. This allows the writer the opportunity to have (at a minimum) 2 files open side by side within Obsidian and have another app open, like Safari, while writing. This feature has truly been a game changer for me and I’ve only been using it for 4 days.
  2. The ability to link files to each other within the app. This allows the writer to move fluidly between files in a way that just cannot be done in other apps. This feature has been so fun to use with my album collection and curation use case that I’ve mentioned in other posts.
  3. The Obsidian Discord Community. I created an Obsidian account 2 days ago. When you create an account you are granted access to the Obsidian Discord Community. I have been welcomed warmly into this community and feel at home whenever I go on to ask a question or just take part in ongoing conversations.

I have so much to learn about this app which is another reason I’m going to stay with it; I like to learn. There are so many intelligent people doing so many creative things with this app. Tapping into their knowledge, as I move forward with my 3 use cases, is only going to improve future iterations of each one of them.
