UPDATE: 2 Weeks in with the APPLE WATCH ULTRA

There have been a lot of people writing and Vlogging about their experiences with the Apple Watch Ultra. One that got my attention and the attention of one of my favorite podcasts, Connected, this week was from _DavidSmith.

His adventure into the Scottish Highlands got me thinking about what I am liking 2 weeks into my own; urban adventures, with my Apple Watch Ultra.

Battery

In my initial blog post about the Ultra, I spoke about how the battery on this watch is "...a BEAST!" 2 weeks in, it remains a BEAST! I've fallen into the following routine; on the days I charge my watch I do so at 7pm in the evening. I put it back on my wrist at 8pm before I go to bed. From that point, the watch can go 2 full days without me thinking about having to charge it. On the days that I do charge the watch it is usually somewhere between 25% and 29%. I could probably go to the following morning before charging it back to 100% but why bother? It is so liberating knowing that this watch can go literally 2 full days on a single charge.

NOTE #1: I did actually have to break my routine and charge the Ultra on the morning of the day I was scheduled to charge it later in the evening. I am attributing that to the fact that I did in fact use the watch more in this current "cycle" than usual.

NOTE #2: I am a bit of a completionist and like my devices at 100% when I go to use them. That said, I wonder what it would be like to "let go" of that mindset seeing that the Ultra's battery is such "a BEAST." I might experiment with breaking this mindset in the coming weeks and write about it.

Action Button

2 weeks in with the Ultra finds me still using this button for Workouts. It's been really nice in North Carolina as of late so I have switched the Action from Indoor Walk with an Open Goal to Outdoor Walk with an Open Goal. I love how the workout starts immediately. I wonder though, is there a way, in a future software update, for some kind of menu to come up, when the Action Button is pressed, for the user to choose from say 3 options? This would eliminate the need to open the Watch app to reconfigure the Action.

Watch Bands

In my initial blog post I wrote that I had ordered the Midnight Ocean Band. I now have that band and have used it several times, alternating between it and the White Ocean Band. I have no experience with any of the other bands that are made exclusively for the Ultra but am convinced that the Ocean Bands are the most comfortable. My Series watch bands have been re-assigned the job of "bands I wear while I sleep and/or during a workout."

Size still Matters

2 weeks in with the Ultra finds me still, over the moon, with regards to the size of the watch and the watch face! It makes an amazing statement on the wrist. Like others, I am hopeful that, again, in a future software update, that apps are able to take more and more advantage of all of that real estate!
