I am a husband, writer, and teacher exploring what it means to cultivate mental silence.

Meditative Blogging: AKA...Stream of Consciousness

It's almost been 3 months since I've posted to my blog. Not good for someone who is a self-proclaimed "writer." Heard a pretty cool idea this morning while listening to one of my favorite podcasts Cortex. (https://www.relay.fm/cortex) Myke Hurley (https://www.relay.fm/people/mykehurley) was talking about creativity basically and that sometimes it's a good idea to try something new...if you are not getting (in my case) a lot of people reading my blog. The whole premise of my blog is that I am trying to cultivate a little mental silence. Heck...I even named the blog around that. So...I was thinking...what if I posted blog entries that attempted to emulate meditative practice?!Maybe my previous entries...and this one...are achieving this already. After all...most of my meditative sessions involve me trying to let the thoughts in my head...pass by me...noticing them as they pass...not allowing any of them to linger...in an attempt to calm myself. How would that come across in a blogpost...if it's not "doing so" right now?Typing...listening to podcast in the background...the heat just came on in the house...the dryer just finished a cycle...typing...take a sip of wine...man that tastes good...eyes off the screen to think...typing...Paul McCartney...modem lights flickering...refrigerator is running now...typing.Hmmm...I think I just rediscovered stream of consciousness writing.

Happy New Year!!!

Sunk cost...a fallacy?!
