I am a husband, writer, and teacher exploring what it means to cultivate mental silence.

I’m excited about tomorrow...

I’m excited about tomorrow...I’m excited about tomorrow because I’m getting to work with a great friend and colleague. We are co-facilitating something called the Summer Invitational which is an experience where teachers like me get in touch with themselves as writers and what it means to be a teacher of writing. This Summer Invitational is through an organization that literally saved me as a teacher called the National Writing Project.Tomorrow my friend and I hold the invitational’s orientation...a time for the teachers to get together, begin to get to know each other, and learn about what we will be doing during the summer. I love the orientation...we sit, drink coffee, have a light breakfast, write, think, read, and have great conversation about what it means to be a writer and a teacher of writing. I have been fortunate enough to co-facilitate this experience many times in the 15 years I’ve been a member of the NWP. I consider it a time to “give back” for all that NWP has given me both personally and professionally. Did I mention that I’m excited about tomorrow?!
