Summer post #1...As I sit on my patio enjoying my third full day of Summer break I am thinking more about how I ended last week's post. What direction do I take this blog? One of the things I've liked most about this writing is my interest in sharing with you my experiments related to my health. With a significant amount of extra time on my hands I made the decision a few days ago to up the number of minutes I meditate each day. Why not? I see no downside to this decision. During the school year I usually meditate for 10 minutes daily. For the last 3 days I've increased that to 45 minutes to an hour a day. My main purpose...to create my own peace. No one else is going to do it for me. One metric that shows that this is “working” can be found in an app that I use daily called Gyroscope. The app provides a health score. That health score is the result of the app measuring things I do that are good for me like working out, meditating, getting the right amount of sleep...just to mention a few. Last week...while I was still working and meditating 10 minutes a day my health score was 80...very good by all accounts. Since increasing my meditation minutes the health score has risen to 88. I'd call that a significant increase. I intend to keep an eye on this moving forward to see if the health score continues to increase as I continue to log more meditation minutes daily.
