Things I’m Enjoying: Winter Edition
This is something that both my wife and I have been watching since right around Thanksgiving of 2021 so we are new to it and...get ready...are addicted. It's so interesting to watch amateur bakers doing their level best in each of the show's 3 weekly challenges. The hosts, Sue Perkins and Mel Giedroyc are very funny and I think Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood are "spot on" with the roles they play as the judges. I laugh and smile and laugh some more each time we watch an episode. It's very "scrummy" TV, can be found on Netflix, and I encourage you to give it a try.
Time Off
By the time this post is read I will be back to work. I am very fortunate in that I get big breaks for holidays like Christmas. I so look forward to this time as my job (teaching) is very intense. Just being able to wake up a little later in the morning, have coffee with my wife, go for walks with my wife, sit and listen to music or a podcast, catch up with friends or sit here and write...it doesn't take much for me to really enjoy this time off.
I got this book after listening to a podcaster talk about how it was helping him learn more about his own stress and anxiety. It's a pretty serious read and you really need to be mentally prepared to read it, if and when you decide to give it a try. Since my Yearly Theme is: The Year of More Self-Care and Less Stress/Anxiety, I thought, if I learned how the brain, body, and mind deal with trauma I might be able to apply some of that learning to my own personal issues.
